How to Care for Your Morloft Play Mat

The Morloft Play Mat is designed to make time spent on the floor feel softer and more comfortable. Little ones have plenty of room to play and move around, while adults can enjoy its soft, cushioned feel underfoot.

To help your Morloft Play Mat look and feel its best, please follow the care instructions below.

Opening Instructions

Your Morloft Play Mat is tightly rolled and compressed for delivery. When you first unpack it, you may notice creases, bumps and areas that appear flatter than expected. Don’t worry, this is normal.

Remove the mat from its packaging, unroll it and lay it as flat as possible on the floor. Leave it to settle for approximately one hour.

You can then use a clothes steamer suitable for soft materials to help relax the creases. Work carefully across the surface and test on a small, inconspicuous area first.

If you prefer to use an iron, select a low-heat setting with plenty of steam. Make sure the iron is not too hot, as excessive heat may damage the mat. Always test it on a small, inconspicuous area first.

If your iron does not produce much steam, place a clean, damp, colourfast tea towel between the iron and the Morloft Play Mat. The tea towel should be damp, not wet.

Once you have finished steaming or ironing, your mat will be ready to use. It may still appear slightly smaller or thinner than expected at first. The mat will continue to expand and settle over the following 15 to 20 days, gradually reaching its full size and approximate thickness of 3 cm.

Ongoing Care

We understand that everyday family life can get messy. The Morloft Play Mat is stain-resistant and designed to make regular cleaning straightforward.

For dry messes such as dust and crumbs, vacuum the surface using a gentle setting.

For damp or sticky marks, use a wet wipe or a clean, damp cloth and carefully treat the affected area. Avoid soaking the mat and allow it to dry completely before using it again.

For regular freshening, sprinkle baking soda lightly across the surface, leave it for approximately 10 minutes and then vacuum it thoroughly.

You may also use a suitable carpet powder, including products intended to help with pet odours. Products can differ, so always check the manufacturer’s instructions and test them on a small, inconspicuous area first.

Airing your Morloft Play Mat outdoors in dry weather can also help it feel fresh. Place it on a clean balcony, patio or porch rather than directly on grass or soil. Do not leave it outside for longer than one day, and always bring it indoors before rain or damp weather.

In rare cases, the backing of a mat can react with certain flooring finishes and leave marks, prints or small dots. We recommend checking your flooring manufacturer’s guidance before using any mat with a non-slip backing.

As with any floor mat, lift your Morloft Play Mat occasionally to let both the mat and the floor underneath air out. This also gives you an opportunity to check their condition.
